Nivada Grenchen F77 Chrono Mecaquartz Carbon 38MM 68002Q77

The first F77 Chrono Mecaquartz. Ever. The F77 has firmly earned its place in our modern collection, so evolving it into a chronograph felt both natural and true to our chronograph DNA. Because the F77 never existed as a Chrono Mecaquartz before, this is not a re-edition, it’s a brand-new creation. The F77 Chrono Mecaquartz Matte Carbon Dial is the most modern expression of the collection, swapping the historical woven texture for a stealthy matte carbon dial. The darker surface amplifies the contrast with the subdials, indexes and hands, giving the chronograph a more technical, contemporary character while preserving the F77 design codes: 38 mm 316L steel case, integrated bracelet, and riveted bezel. At its core beats the VK64 mecaquartz movement, a hybrid caliber that combines quartz precision with a mechanical chronograph module, allowing the central chronograph hand to sweep smoothly and the pushers to operate with a satisfying mechanical feel. Approximately three years of battery autonomy, a double-domed sapphire crystal, solid screw-down caseback and 10 ATM water resistance make this F77 as practical as it is sharp. Available on steel, Velcro canvas or rubber, it brings a more technical, urban look to the F77 Chrono Mecaquartz line-up.

Brand History:

Nivada Grenchen, established in 1926 in Grenchen, Switzerland, quickly became renowned for its rugged tool watches that pushed the boundaries of horological innovation. The brand solidified its reputation with the introduction of the Antarctic in 1950, the first waterproof automatic watch. This timepiece gained fame when it accompanied members of the U.S. Navy's Operation Deep Freeze I during their South Pole expedition from 1955 to 1956.

In 1961, Nivada Grenchen launched the Chronomaster, a versatile waterproof chronograph designed for aviators, divers, and sports enthusiasts. The company continued its innovative streak with the release of the Depthomatic in 1964, the first diver's watch featuring a depth indicator, followed by the Depthmaster in 1965, capable of withstanding pressures up to 1,000 meters.

After a period of dormancy, Nivada Grenchen experienced a rebirth in 2018, reintroducing two of its most iconic models—the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver and the Antarctic—at the forefront of its revival. The relaunch paved the way for the brand’s enduring appeal among modern watch enthusiasts while honoring its storied heritage.
